Recommended Aluminum Folding Tonneau Cover for 2017 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Question:

Hi I am interested in the folding aluminum BAK G2 hard tonneau cover for my 2017 f250 BAK26330. I read the reviews and one guy who owned a Ram truck said it caused his bed rails to buckle in the middle. As the new Ford beds are aluminum is this a concern for me? Or did this guy not install it correctly? Second item: I was considering your truck bed tent RL 120730. Would this fit over the tonneau cover or would it need to be removed? What is the difference between the BAK48330 cover and the BAK26330 Thanks

The BAKFlip G2 Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK26330 referenced in your question is a great choice and is confirmed to fit your 2017 Ford F-250. I spoke with my contact at BAK Industries and he stated that they have not heard of any issues with the bed rails on the Ford or any other truck buckling because of the installation hardware on the unit. He also confirmed that there is no problem at all with the new aluminum beds on the Ford trucks. Most likely the customer with the issue you stated over-tightened the hardware or simply installed it incorrectly on the truck.

The Rightline Truck Bed Tent # RL110730 that you also referenced is again confirmed to fit your F-250. We have spoken with Rightline regarding this tent and they have told us that this will typically only be compatible with soft, roll-up tonneau covers that fit between the bed rails. With a hard tonneau cover like the G2, you will likely need to remove it for the tent to install and operate properly.

Lastly, both the BAKFlip G2 and the MX4 # BAK48330 are very similar aluminum folding covers that are designed to fit your truck. One primary difference between the two is that the MX4 will fold in 4 places, while the G2 will fold in 3 locations. The additional folding spots will simply allow for more customization. The MX4 also has a listed capacity of 400 pounds of evenly distributed weight while the G2 does not have a weight rating.

I have attached a couple video demonstrations for these products that you can check out.
