What Is Purpose of Lower Portion of Frame Bracket on Reese Rail Kit # RP50064-58

Question:

Is there a video of installation on a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 with 6 1/2 ft. Bed? I have the 43inch long Reese bed rails that my hitch was mounted on before. Is there any difference in the bed rails that come with RP50064-58 or can I just order the RP50064 and RP58504 hardware and use my old bed rails? I notice your photo shows a large flange on the frame rails that sticks down below the frame and does not appear to get bolted onto anything, why is that there? Thanks

The brackets of the # RP50064-58 are designed to fit a few different styles of trucks. Some of the trucks use the lower portion of the bracket that you pointed out and others use the higher mounting holes. Basically with this bracket kit they created something that can fit a few different frame designs. If you check out the install picture I attached you can see the two different ways the brackets get installed based on the vehicle.

43 inches isn't a standard length for a fifth wheel bed rail. Best option is to use the part # RP50064-58 which comes with rails that you'd need plus all needed brackets and hardware.
