Dimensions and Part Number Cross-Reference for Grease Seal 168233

Question:

Im interested in P/N: T1721400042 Your showing the seal ID to be 1.688. Ive found this same part number on other sites and they all state 1.75inch ID. I assume I must need the 1.688inch ID since my spindle has a 1.735inch OD boss for the seal to seal up against. Will this work for my spindle?

Grease seals are best matched by part number but when this is not possible measuring inner and outer diameters to the nearest thousandth of an inch (1.234-inches for example) is necessary to ensure a proper seal at the spindle and hub bore. A digital caliper is the best tool for measurement at this small scale.

The seal included in hub part T1721400042 is double-lip seal part # 168233 which has an inner diameter of 1.688-inches and an outer diameter of 2.332-inches.

I can't vouch for or comment on the specs shown on other websites, but I did find other retailers of this part showing the same specs we do. I also found a cross-reference showing compatible seals from other makers, as follows:

Transcom 168233TB
National 473317/47140
NOK AF7616EO/AD2527EO
Chicago Rawhide 16657/1665
