Recommended Suspension Upgrade For Tandem Axle System On 2017 Coachmen Clipper 21FQ
Question:
I have a 2017 Coachmen Clipper 21FQ With dual dexter ezlube axles. I broke a shackle and bolt first outing. I would like tp upgrade the suspension as we do want to take the trailer on dirt and gravel roads and do hit potholes and the like. I would like a more bulletproof suspension and overall ride.

For your suspension upgrade, I recommend the E-Z Flex Heavy Duty Rubber Suspension System by Dexter Axle - 5-5/8" Equalizers # K71-652-00 or the Equa-Flex Cushioned Equalizers - Double Eye Springs - Tandem Axle - 3K to 6K # LC279687. The Dexter system uses a rubber bushing to help absorb shock and the Lippert system uses a similar rubber core. The benefit of the Dexter system is you can see the bushing so you can tell when it is worn and needs replacing. The benefit of the Lippert system is that the rubber is protected so there is slightly less wear on the rubber.
With either shock absorber, I recommend the Never Fail Tandem Axle Suspension Upgrade Hardware Kit for Double Eye Springs # LC281285 that uses metal bushings and corrosion-resistant shackle straps. These bushings make your system maintenance free.
Of course you will still want to make sure you stay within the trailer weight parameters. The GVWR for the 21FQ is 7,044 lbs.
