Why Do Tow Bars have Weight Capacities but Base Plate Kits Do Not

Im inquiring to see if you have a rating for your Base plate kit for #521435-1 . I see all your tow bars have ratings so what would the rating be on this particular kit.

The base plate kit part # 521435-1 doesn't have a specified weight capacity like the tow bars do as it is designed for the weight of the vehicle it was engineered for. This base plate kit is going to work for 2007-2010 Jeep Patriot manual transmissions and the weight of the vehicles. Since unlike tow bars the base plates only fit a very select few vehicles there's no need to list a capacity.

Tow bars like the Blue Ox Avail part # BX7420 can be used on quite a few vehicles so they have to have a capacity listed since vehicles have pretty wide overall weights. This tow bar has a capacity of 10,000 lbs.
