Measuring Clearance For Bike And Cargo Carrier At Rear Of 2013 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter With Spare

Question:

Will the bike and cargo carrier have enough clearance for the rear mounted tire, and will I be able to open the non tire door when in the release position. I have a 19 ft Roadtrek and would like to carry two bikes and some cargo camp stove lantern chairs etc any help would be appreciated

With the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 Platform 2 Bike Rack w/Cargo Carrier # HR1450Z-85 installed, you will be able to open the door but it will not open all the way.

To make sure you have the clearance for the bikes with your rear mounted spare tire you will need to take a quick measurement. You will need a tape measure and a straight edge like a yardstick or a dowel. Place the straight edge vertically against the back of the spare tire, letting it extend below the trailer hitch receiver opening. Then measure from the center of the hitch pin to the straight edge. This will give you the distance you need to clear the spare tire.

The # HR1450Z-85 has a distance of 8-1/2 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack and 12 inches to the closest wheel hoop.
