Recommended Weight Distribution System for 2017 Titan Pro4X Towing 33-Foot Travel Trailer

Question:

We got a 2017 Nissan Titan Pro4X crew cab. Will be pulling 33ft travel trailer and the tongue weight is 740 and the GVWR is 7600. Which weight distribution hitch would you recommend? TIA!

The way to choose a correctly-rated weight distribution/sway control (WD/SC) system for your travel trailer is to measure its tongue weight (TW) when you have it fully-loaded with all your usual gear and supplies and with your water and propane tanks filled, etc. Measure the loaded trailer TW with scale # e99044 and then to this measured weight add the weight of any cargo items that sit behind the Titan's rear axle, such as a big loaded cooler or a generator. This behind-the-axle cargo acts like trailer TW so it must be included in the weight measurement.

If your trailer has a dry hitch weight of 740-lbs, then by the time you load it you will be closer to 1000-lbs. All WD/SC systems work over a TW range and ideally your total TW will fall near the middle of that range.

The linked page displays all systems for a 2-inch hitch and that include the shank; these all work with electric trailer brakes. Just click on your TW figure to see suitable choices.

If your total loaded TW is 1000-lbs then you can use a system like Equal-i-zer # EQ37120ET which works effectively over a TW range of 800- to 1200-lbs. This systems comes complete; all you might need is a thin-wall socket # EQ70-00-4800 for hitch ball installation. The two linked videos will give you more detail on this excellent sway-preventing weight distribution hitch system.
