How Far Does Curt 5-Bike Rack Extend from the Trailer Hitch Pin Hole
Question:
How far back does this bike rack extend from the hitch? I need to know if it will fit between my vehicle and small camper. I was thinking of using it with something like the MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender Item # MT70070.

I spoke with my contact at Curt who said that from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the arms is approximately 40 inches on Curt Premium 5 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches - Tilting Item # C18065 which is comparable to other 5 bike racks.
If you were to use a hitch adapter, it will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent. Depending on what the tongue weight capacity of your hitch is the use of an adapter could cause the hitch to be overloaded. The combined weight of the bike rack, bikes, and the trailer tongue weight has to be less than the reduced tongue weight.
To avoid having a reduced tongue weight capacity you can use Curt Multipurpose Ball Mount with 2" Receiver for Bike Racks and Cargo Carriers - 7,500 lbs Item # D210. Since it is a ball mount and not an adapter it does not reduce the tongue weight capacity of the hitch. The combined weight of the bike rack, bikes, and trailer tongue weight cannot exceed 750 pounds using this ball mount.
