Base Plate Recommendation for a 2001 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Question:
Do you have base plates that will mount directly to the tow hooks on my 2001 Ford F-350 Super Duty? And can I safely tow this vehicle using only the tow hooks?

Expert Reply:
The base plate kit for your 2001 Ford F-350 is the Blue Ox, part # BX2163. This kit will install in place of your truck's tow hooks. I also recommend using the Blue Ox Avail # BX7420 because with a truck that heavy you need a tow bar that can handle its weight and is compatible with the base plate kit without using adapters.
For tow bars I would recommend that you get RoadMaster Sterling Tow Bar with 6-Wire Electric Cord, part # RM-576.
For a temporary lighting solution I would recommend you get Magnetic Towing Lights, part # RM-2120. I attached a link to a page on how to pick the right tow bar lighting solution for you to check out.
If you are looking for a more permanent lighting solution I would recommend Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154. I attached an installation page and video on this product below.
You may also be required to have a supplemental braking system in your towed vehicle. I would check with your local laws to determine if one is required for your state and all the states you will be towing through.
The base plate kit # 492-3 that you referenced is not designed to work on your 2001 Ford F-350.
