Recommendation to Raise Rear of Boat Trailer

Question:

I need a little help understanding leaf springs and how they work...I having a issue with the rear of my boat trailer being to low...I replaced the leaf springs and shackles with what was on the trailer, but there was no height movement... I have 4 leaf springs on the trail right now...I was told to flip the spings, but when I did, the height of the trailer was almost up to my knees...Then I was told to get longer shackles, so I did, no change...so I thinking, the old leafspring that were on the trailer were not the correct ones..first question...How would I measure for the correct leafspring...second question...is it more the leafs the more height or less leafs the more height... Thanks

Since you already attempted to raise your trailer by using an Over-Under Kit like # K71-385-00 to flip the leaf springs, the only other way to raise the height of your trailer is to have the existing hangers cut off and install taller ones. I recommend having a qualified professional weld the new hangers onto the trailer. You will want to simply measure the existing hangers to make sure you get ones that are taller.

I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of hangers for you to look through.

Changing the amount of leaf springs on your trailer will only raise the height of your trailer by a very small amount and might not even be noticeable. Typically, the amount of leaf springs used on a trailer is simply the amount that is needed to reach their listed weight capacity. I do not recommend adding additional leaf springs to change the height of your trailer.
