Locating the Correct Brake Controller Port on a 2008 Ford E450 Van
Question:
There are 2 factory ports under the dash this harness could plug into which is correct? The first is a brown 4 pin and the second is a gray 6pin. Asking to avoid damage from an incorrect connection.

Expert Reply:
Ford typically uses a gray connector. Before attaching the harness to the brake controller, plug the harness into the gray port, then use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993. The black wire should show a constant 12-volts, and the red wire should show power only with the brake pedal pressed. If this is what you find, you have successfully confirmed that you have the correct connector.
I'll link you to our FAQ article and an install video that shows how to install a brake controller on a Ford Van.
