Where on Trailer's Frame do the Brackets of the Curt Short-Arm Weight Distribution System Install
Question:
I am looking at the Curt weight distribution system with sway control Item # C17422 and was wondering if it will work with my setup. I have a Stock 2016 Dodge Ram 2500 with 6.7 diesel and a toy hauler that weighs 7,000 pounds unloaded dry, 12,000 pounds fully loaded. The hitch dry weight unloaded is 1,100 pounds. I was also wondering if the bar mount on the trailer will clear the propane tanks? Is there a measurement of the approximant location of this mount so I can check before ordering. Thanks for your time

Expert Reply:
The spring bars of the Curt Short Arm Weight Distribution # C17422 are 28-3/8 inches long. So the brackets will be approximately that far from the hitch ball on your trailer's frame.
You also want to find the exact tongue weight of your trailer when it's loaded. Then add that to any weight you've put behind the rear axle of your 2016 Ram 2500. You want that number to fall within the range the system is rated for. The Curt system is rated between 1,000 to 1,500 pounds of tongue weight. If this system doesn't work for your towing setup let me know the tongue weight you have and I'll make a recommendation.
