The Car Top Cargo Rooftop Cargo Box - 18 cu ft - Black # CTC-18S will fit on your factory crossbars of your 2005 Ford Explorer as long as it has maximum crossbar dimensions of 3-3/4 inches wide x 1-3/16 inches tall and the crossbar spread is 22" center on center. The spread can be expanded to a maximum of 31" but this requires drilling into your box.
