Trailer Battery Charger that Can Use Solar Panels

Question:

I have a 2016 Stealth 8.5ftx20ft V-nosed enclosed trailer hooked up to a 2011 Ram 1500 with a 7 way plug. I would like to install a battery inside the trailer. I would like to be able to charge the battery while the truck is running through the 7-way plug but when the truck is off be able to charge from a solar panel mounted on the roof of the trailer. There is already a breakaway brake set up on the trailer which I was going to tie into to get power from the truck.

To charge the battery in your trailer by using solar panels, I recommend looking at the Redarc In-Vehicle BCDC Battery Charger # 331-BCDC1225D. This charger can actually manage input current from up to 2 DC power sources, including solar panels, to charge and maintain 12V batteries. It can be left connected to batteries for months and will keep them at full charge.
