Maximum Gross Trailer Weight of Pro Series Weight Distribution Head Used as a Ball Mount
Question:
Is there a weight rating for this head? I want to be able to use the hitch as a standard weight carrying hitch at times, not having to use it always with the spring bars as a WD hitch. I see WD hitches rated up to 14k WD capacity, but WC capacity says only 6000. I cant see how the head would be that weak without the spring bars. If the shank is stamped and rated for 14k, and I have a 14k ball, couldnt I use it as a WC hitch for a 14k trailer without using the spring bars?

The weight distribution head # PS58442 is a direct replacement for # PS49901, # PS49582, and # PS49583. All three have a gross trailer weight of 10,000 pounds.
I verified with Pro Series that the head can be used without the spring bars as a ball mount but its maximum capacity is 10,000 pounds.
