Bike Rack Recommendation for Carrying Womens Bike with 2014 Ford Escape
Question:
I have a ladies 26 inch mountain bike with regular handle bars that I wish to carry on the back of my 2014 Ford Escape. I dont have a towing hitch and really didnt know I would need one since I am only carry one bike. I am not strong enough to put my bike on top of my vehicle. What do you suggest? I had an old bike carrier that I purchase from Walmart, but it makes the front of my bike hang too dangerously low.

A trunk mounted bike rack would be a great option for you. For that we have the Yakima FullBack part # Y02634 which is a confirmed fit for your 2014 Ford Escape and would work great. I attached an install video that shows it installed on a similar 2016 Ford Escape as yours too.
Since you plan on carrying a womens or alternative framed bikes without a horizontal top tube you may also be interested in purchasing a Kuat Bike Frame Adapter Bar # UB01 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
