Can Trailer Light Assembly with 2 Wires Replace Light with Single Wire

Question:

I have to replace a running light on a boat trailer ,The light I took off has 2 wires, the new one has only 1 wire, it said it is grounded through the mounting bolt. What do I do with the extra wire? Thank You,

Helpful Expert Reply:

What you would want to do is run the ground wire from the assembly back to the mounting bolt of the assembly. That will allow the ground wire to ground through the mounting hardware like your old setup did.
