How to Know if Reese Strait Line System RP66074 is Correct Fit for Trailer Based on Tongue Weight

Question:

I am looking into purchasing the RP66074 but my question: Is it better to go with the higher rated 12K hitch versus the 10K? The higher rated would be the better choice if i am thinking the tongue weight on the 10K just isnt going to be enough.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

The part # RP66074 has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs which would work great if your tongue weight falls in that range. If you have a tongue weight that falls out of that range email me back and I will help you pick out the best kit.
