Recommended Wiring To Change 4-Way Trailer Connector On 2013 Honda Pilot To 7-Way
Question:
Hi. I have a Tow Ready kit 118558 installed on my 2013 Honda Pilot EX-L. I would like to upgrade it to a 7 way connector so I can tow a small travel trailer. Ultimately I may want to get set up with a brake controller as well so Id rather have the 7 way connector as the base system rather than using the 4-way to 7-way adapter. Which components of the kit that I already installed 118558 need to be changed? Are they available separately? Thanks. Geoff

Since you have the 4-way trailer connector on your 2013 Pilot, I recommend part # ETBC7. Adding the # ETBC7 will give you a working 4-way and 7-way at the back of your vehicle.
The # ETBC7 plugs into the 4-way and the remaining wires will then need to be run. I have attached a drawing that shows how the wiring is run when you install the # ETBC7.
The drawing also shows how the wires are run for a brake controller. The brake controller I recommend is part # 90885. This is our most popular brake controller because it is easy to operate and set up. If you plan on adding the brake controller at a later date then you can just tape off the blue wire that will be used to run to the brake controller.
When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
