How to Wire Optronics Tail Lights With Three Wires When Trailer has Four Wires?
Question:
Hi. I have a 1982 Prowler that I want to replace tail lights on. My new Optronics lights have 3 wires while my trailer has 4 on each side. Drivers side has 2 green, one white and one red. Passenger side is two green, one white and one black. How can I connect these? Thanks

To figure out how to wire your new Optronics lights you will need to determine the functions of your 1982 Prowler's wires with a circuit tester such as # PTW2992.
The ground wires are likely white, but we can't otherwise go by color scheme because you have an uncommon color pattern, which you can see in the help article on wiring I linked for you. What you'll want to do is hook up your trailer to a vehicle and have somebody engage the tail, turn and brake lights while you use the circuit tester to figure out each wire's function.
