Trouble Shooting Trailer Brakes that are Locking Up
Question:
Hey so i was towing my new trailer for the second time and ive noticed the brake are off its the electric brake system so it automatically kicks in when the lights are plugged in everytime i brake the trailer locks up and skids also becomes very jerky for everyone in the truck but no matter the pressure the trailer grabs first where do i begin

I would start by adjusting the brakes. Even brand new self-adjust brakes need to be adjusted. I would think on a brand new trailer this would already be done but you never know.
Take a look at the video I attached and skip ahead to around the 4:30 minute mark to see the brakes being adjusted.
You also may just need to turn down the gain on your electric brake controller.
