Installing Old Tekonsha Weathertronic Electric Brake Controller

Question:

have a travel trailer with an old tekonsha brake controller mounted on the trailer. The controller has output blue to trailer brakes, white to ground, black to + and red to ?. I think I need to connect either right or left Jeep brake light to the red controller input for the trailer brakes to work. I am towing with a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee that has a 7 blade connector with Black +, yellow backup, brown right/stop, blue brakes, white ground, red left/stop and green running lights. Thanks

Your picture is of an old Tekonsha Weathertronic electric brake controller. The wire color coding is as follows:

White - Ground
Black - Positive terminal on the battery
Blue - To the trailer brakes
Red - Cold side of the stop light switch. This will be the circuit that is hot only when the brake pedal is being pressed. If you connect this to either side of the brake lights the trailer brakes will pulse with the flashers.

This is actually the same colors used when installing a new model of brake controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 in the cab of your truck only the Weathertronic installs on the trailer.
