Recommended Weight Distribution System to Pull a Toy Hauler With GVWR of 9,680 lbs With 1995 F-250

Question:

I need a WDH system for a toy hauler with a GVWR of 9680 lbs and a manufacture stated dry weight of 5514 and dry hitch weight of 826. The tow vehicle will be a 1995 Ford F250 super cab long bed. The truck has the camper package which makes it an F350, but with an F250 badge. Will the EQ37140ET be too much?

When looking at Weight Distribution (WD) systems you will want to find one that has a range that your Total Tongue Weight (TTW) falls in the middle of.

To find your TTW you will need to add the Tongue Weight (TW) of your loaded and ready- to-go trailer plus the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 1995 Ford F-250/F-350. Keep in mind that your TW should be 10-15 percent of the weight of your trailer. Since 10 percent of your GVWR of 9680 is 968 and the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37140ET has a TW range of 1,000 - 1,400 lbs I recommend going with something that has a lower TW range. This is only the case if your TTW is not at LEAST 1,000 lbs.

If your TTW is slightly under 1,000 lbs then I recommend going with the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37120ET instead. It has a TW range of 800- 1,200 lbs and would be better suited for your application.
