Troubleshooting Replacement Bargman LED Trailer Lights
Question:
Im attempting to upgrade the tail lights on my 5th wheel trailer to the Bargman LED 47-85-615 Trailer Light Surface Mount 84/85 Series Red/Amber Double. My tow vehicle is a 2006 GMC 2500HD and Im having a difficult time getting them wired correctly. The issue comes in to only have the amber lights for directional signaling and not for emergency flashers should only be red. Im also finding it difficult to activate the running lights and brake lights on the red light circuit. Also, should I be using diodes for proper installation? Please let me know if you need more info. Many thanks

In order to separate the turn signals from the brake lights on your trailer with your new Bargman LED Red/Amber tail lights, you will just need to install the Tow Ready Vehicle to Vehicle Tail Light Converter # 118158 on the trailer side behind the 7-Way connector.
You will locate the wire on the 7-Way that is for the left turn and brake and attach it to the yellow wire on the converter input side. Then connect the wire from the right turn and stop to the green wire on the input side. The ground wire will be attached to the trailer frame.
On the output side of the converter, you will have the yellow wire, which will now be left turn only. The green wire will be for right turn only and the red wire for brake lights only.
