Can Trailer Tire Size ST225/75-15 Be Replaced with 235/80-16

Question:

Have Fifth Wheel camper with 225/75-15ST Radial Load Range D. Existing space between tires is 5. Have looked at your Wheel/Tire sets. Want to change to a 235/80 16. Load Range E. That increase in diameter will cut that spacing to between 2 and 3inch Can this work?

The diameter difference between the two sizes you mentioned is 2-1/2 inches. Now since half of that additional diameter is split between the wheel center you would only end up losing 1-3/4 inches of fender clearance. That means you'd go down to about 3-3/4 inches of clearance since you have 5 now.

Normally we recommend at least 4 inches of clearance so you're pretty close. For the larger size mounted on a white wheel we have the part # TA39VR which has a 6 on 5-1/2 inch bolt pattern. The tire that comes with this is rated for up to 81 mph too which is nice.
