Replacement Motor and Gearbox for 5th Wheel Trailer Landing Gear

Question:

Hello, I need to replaced the front electric jacks motor on my 2005 296 RLDS 5th wheel. The model is an Open Road made by Pilgrim. Without removing the motor I can see the following information ADTH Part # 1RV-200. I do not know the brand of the actual landing gear but if that info is needed I can look a little more for it. I figure I should also replace the gearbox while I am at it. the trailer tow rating is 11,000 but not sure on pin weight but would guess it to be around 1800 lbs. Will the LG 196308 motor work along with the LG 179015 gearbox??? Do you have any other recommendations?? thank you

Expert Reply:

Trailer makers usually do not maintain specs on smaller parts like landing gear that are used in construction of their RVs so even though I could find photos of your 2005 Pilgrim International Open Road 296 RLDS 5th wheel no information on landing gear is provided.

The good news is that many brands of landing gear from makers like Lippert, Atwood and Stromberg Carlson use interchangeable parts so you may not have to use the same brand motor or gearbox; a lower-cost alternative may be available.

Since your landing gear is installed inside the trailer, to avoid extra work it is recommended that you remove the motor and gearbox to obtain the information for brand and part number. I linked for you our main pages for landing gear parts and also for complete systems, just in case.
