Recommended Trunk Mounted 3 Bike Carrier For 2015 BMW X5

Question:

Hi - Ive read that the Thule gateway will work for the BMW x5 2015. Is the 3 bike version as good as the 2 bike one? Id be carrying up to 2 adult bikes one mountain bike and one road bike and a kids kona mountain bike. Would all of those fit, or should I just get a 2, and put a bike into the back trunk? Thanks for your help!

For your 2015 BMW X5, the Thule Gateway Pro 3-Bike Rack - Trunk Mount - Adjustable Arms # TH78VR is a great rack for the 3 bikes you referenced and is a confirmed fit for your 2015 BMW X5. It has the capacity of carrying 3 bikes up to 35 lbs each and is designed to put 7 inches between your 3 bikes. It will work just as well as the 2 bike version, but it will get the 3rd bike out of the vehicle and into a safer traveling location. The distance between the arms of the cradle is 12 inches so it can work great with a kids bike. This rack has the integrated locking cable but you will want to add the strap # TH533, so your rack and your bikes will be secured.

I recommend using the Swagman Deluxe Bike Frame Adapter Bar for Women's, Children's, and Alternative Frame Bikes # 64005. This creates a top frame rail between the handlebars and the seat post on frames without a horizontal top tube to allow you to carry the bikes level and give you greater ground clearance.
