Recommended Installation Of 2015 Toyota Highlander OEM Crossbars And Yakima Load Warrior Roof Basket

Question:

The factory cross bars are couple inches too wide. It works for the rack ok. I would like to adjust the crossbars to fit better with the brackets so it can have factory locks placed on the rack/basket. I cant seem to get an answer regarding the technique if any to adjust the distance to the factory crossbars. Can you help?I have a 2015 Toyota Highlander and a Yakima Load Warrior roof basket.

The 2015 Toyota Highlander OEM crossbars are not adjustable. Because they are mounted with fixed anchor points, they cannot be moved. They are set at the 27.5 inches apart center on center. If you think you have a different system, please send me pictures so I can help further.

This shouldn't be a big problem for your Yakima Load Warrior Roof Basket # Y07070 unless the bar falls directly on the center of your crossbar. They can be fixed at an angle although the look may not be ideal without any issue to the load carrying capacity of the rack. Even at an angle you can use the Yakima Locking Mount Brackets with SKS Cores for LoadWarrior and MegaWarrior # Y07064 to secure your basket to your crossbars.

If the basket hits on a cross rail, my contact at Yakima said that using the extension # Y07074 will often offset that bar enough to make it compatible.
