Could Dexter 3,500 lb Axle be Replaced with Timbren Axle Less Kit ASR3500S05
Question:
I have a Gulfstream Visa 19 camper trailer with the dreaded Lippert #3500 torsion axle. It is out of warranty and now has major inner shoulder tire wear from loss of camber. The trailer is single axle and the GVWR is #3830, which is a problem more than likely. It has electric drum brakes and 14inch tires. Can I push the #3500 Timbren units go that high occasionally without problems? The trailer is never towed with full fluids...and eliminating the axle should save another #100. What are your thoughts?

Expert Reply:
If you have 3,500 lb axles currently that aren't getting overloaded you could replace them with the part # ASR3500S05 and it would work well. You have to be sure that you never exceed 3,500 lbs though. We can't ever recommend you tow your trailer with these installed over 3,500 lbs.
