Roof-Rack-Mount Kayak Carrier Comparison Between Thule TH834 and Rhino-Rack S510

Question:

Adam R answered my question on Kayak Roof rack carriers, out of the 2 J Style carriers you recommended - Rino Rack and the Thule J Style which one of these would you recommend as they are close in price one at $125 and the other at about $140? Thiese would be the ones that would fit on my 2008 Chrysler Town and Country.

Between the two rack-mount kayak carriers, the Thule Hull-A-Port # TH834 and the Rhino Rack # S510, I would choose based on your kayak weight.

The Thule offers a lower 75-lb capacity, but it has a limited lifetime warranty; while the Rhino-Rack can handle heavier kayaks, up to 99-lbs, but has a shorter 2-year warranty. Both carriers are quite similar in overall design and construction and I doubt one will be very different from the other in normal use. The padding on the Thule is slightly heavier though.

If it were me I'd probably go for the Rhino-Rack for the lower price and higher weight rating.
