4-Bike Carrier Options for 2015 Honda Pilot Towing a Camper Trailer
Question:
Ive got a 2015 Honda Pilot that needs to transport 4 bikes. Two adult bikes one with disc brakes and two 20inch kids bikes. What combo would you recommend? We tow a camper so it needs to be roof mount. Thanks.

I am glad to help you with bike carrier options for the family.
Carrying four bikes on the roof of your 2015 Honda Pilot could approach the vehicles roof weight limit. All items on the roof count against its weight capacity. This means the roof rack, the individual bike carriers and the bikes' own weights all together must remain within the vehicle capacity. The other downside to transporting 4 bikes on a vehicle roof is the hassle of lifting them all up there. That can get old pretty quickly.
The nature of your trailer can affect your bike carrying options. If you have a pop-up camper or larger travel trailer with a 2-inch rear hitch then you can use an RV-rated hitch type rack like those shown on the linked page. For instance, the Yakima LongHaul Bike RV Rack # TH9057 handles 4 bikes. A 2-inch RV hitch plus this or a similar RV hitch rack will cost you only a fraction of what a quality roof rack and four individual carriers will cost you. RV hitches are shown on the other linked page. We offer both frame-mount (preferred for their higher weight rating) and bumper-mount types. Your trailer's bumper will have to be rated for weight carrying in order to use a bumper-mount hitch.
If your trailer is an a-frame type with available space at the tongue area you might care to use a hitch rack of your preference in the unique Bike Bunk # CC-275. This device bolts to your a-frame and allows a 2-inch hitch-type rack to be installed in its receiver opening. Please refer to the linked video.
What I suggest you do to get started is review the linked article on RV bike racks. These will help you evaluate the best options based on your type of trailer. Please feel free to reply to me with the details of your towing set-up and I will be glad to assist.
