Comparison of Hollywood Racks and Curt Hanging 4-Bike Hitch Mounted Bike Racks

Question:

I am looking for a 4 bike carrier only for my 2inch receiver. What do you see as the key differences between the above two carriers. Also, what is the height from the center of the receiver box to the top of the carrier arms. We dont want to have to lift our bikes too high to get them on. Thanks

The Hollywood Racks # HR8500 and the Curt # C18030 have a number of similarities. They're both 4-bike hanging racks that will carry up to 35 pound bikes. They both also have the option to fit into a 1-1/4 inch Class II hitch receiver. The arms on the Hollywood Racks are 2 inches closer together which can make it easier to load and unload bikes onto it.

On both racks I took a measurement from the underside of the tube that inserts into the hitch receiver to the level where the bikes will sit. On the Hollywood Racks that measurement is 39 inches and on the Curt it's 38 inches.

For either rack if you're carrying an alternative frame bike like a women's or children's bike you'll likely need an adapter bar. The Kuat Ubar # UB01 installs on the bike and creates the horizontal cross tube that a typical men's bike has. This way the bike will always be level while on the rack.
