What To Do If Your Exhaust Is Rattling Against Your Hitch Receiver

Question:

Hi, I recently installed the Draw Tite hitch on our 2015 Toyota Sienna XLE and now my exhaust is rattling against the hitch. Any suggestions on how to make the noise stop? Since the hangar is rubber, it seems there is no other position I can put the exhaust in and obviously the hitch isnt going to move.

As every exhaust install will be different from vehicle to vehicle, in some cases there are clearance issue between the hitch and exhaust system. However, these are generally very simple fixes. The rubber part you are referring to is the isolator which attaches the bracket from the frame to the metal hanger welded on the exhaust.

In order to gain clearance between the exhaust and hitch receiver you will need to start by removing the rubber isolator. You can do this by applying lubricate to the isolator and using an exhaust hanger removal tool or a pry bar to free the bottom portion of the hanger. Once removed, apply heat to the metal part of the hanger that attaches to the exhaust or frame and bend either up or down in minimal increments as too much force or movement will weaken the hanger.

If you do not feel comfortable doing this task yourself, any reputable exhaust or auto repair shop will be able to fix this for a very small fee. I have attached our help article for customers with this very same problem for your review.
