It is possible to carry both the Darby Extend-A-Truck Kayak Carrier part # DTA944-968-924 and certain bike racks on the rear mounted hitch receiver however, you will need to have a bike rack with a shank long enough to clear the Darby Carrier.

Your bike rack must have a minimum of 12" from the center of the hitch pinhole to upright mast. If there is enough clearance to account for this, then you can use our Curt Dual 2" Receiver Tube Adapter part # D-192 to carry both the Darby Kayak Carrier and your bike rack. If not, I recommend looking at the Swagman XP part # S64940, which will clear the Darby Extender by 1-1/2". Note: The Curt hitch adapter will reduce your vehicle's tongue weight by 50%. The Darby Extender weighs around 25 lbs. and the Swagman weighs around 40 lbs. therefore, you must divide your tongue weight in half and subtract 65 lbs. in order to determine the amount of weight allowed on the kayak carrier and bike rack.

A better option to consider would involve the use of a front mount hitch receiver. For this, I recommend the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C31075. By using this hitch in addition to your rear hitch receiver, you can either place the bike rack on the front of your vehicle with the Darby on the rear or vice versa however, I suggest placing the Darby Extender on the front of the vehicle and the bike rack on the rear. This is a better option in that you will not need to use a hitch adapter and will have the added benefits of a front mounted hitch.
