Can Rear Hatch Be Opened With Trunk-Mount Bike Rack Attached To 2016 Mazda CX-5

I have a 2016.5 Mazda CX-5 with spoiler. I was looking at the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 Bike Carrier for Vehicles w/ Spoilers - Adjustable Arms - Trunk Mount Item # HRF2. Can the rear hatch be opened when the rack is mounted?

There are no trunk mount bike carriers that will allow the rear hatch on a vehicle to open.

The Hollywood Racks Over-The-Top bike carrier # HRF2 is a great bike carrier for vehicles that have rear spoilers. The bike carrier has adjustable arms and has a weight capacity of 35-lbs per bike.

If you are planning on carrying bikes with alternative frames like kids bikes or women's bikes I recommend using an adapter bar like part # 64005. This attaches between the seat post and the handlebar stem and allows the bike to be carried more level in the carrier while providing additional ground clearance. If access to the rear cargo area is important for you, I recommend installing a trailer hitch and a hitch-mounted bike carrier. The Draw-Tite # 76138 is a great option for you.

A great bike rack you can use in the hitch to allow full rear cargo access is the RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002. This bike carrier tilts with the bikes loaded or unloaded and also swings out of the way with the bikes loaded. The carrier has a weight capacity of 60-lbs per bike.

You can also check out the Swagman Chinook # S64683. This bike carrier will allow you to tilt the carrier even with the bikes loaded for cargo area access. This carrier has a weight capacity of 45-lbs per bike.
