Recommended Weight Distribution System For 2013 Ford F-150 Towing Jayco Trailer
Question:
I am looking for product options for weight distribution hitches and sway control. I have a 2013 F150 super crew cab with an ecoboost engine. I am towing a 2015 Jayco X23F travel trailer. The trailers name plate says the weight from the factory is with full propane and battery is 4463 lbs. The trailer GVWR is 5995 lbs. I do not know for sure, but I figure the trailer is between 5000 to 5500 lbs when I pull it, plus the back of the truck usually has gear and a family of 5. I believe it also has electric brakes. What weight distribution hitches should I be looking at? What weight ratings should I be looking at? WHat are your recommended WD hitches and sway control?

Thanks for the information you provided with the weights of your trailer. That makes it much easier to find a system that will work best for you.
The best way to determine what system will work for you is to know what your total tongue weight is. The total tongue weight is the tongue weight of your fully-loaded-ready-to-tow trailer added to the weight of any cargo you place behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. You will then want to find a system where your total tongue weight falls near the middle of the tongue weight range for the system. Getting a system that is too small will be useless, but getting a system that is too big will result in a stiff, uncomfortable experience.
With the weights you gave the tongue weight would be around 800 and then add the weight of cargo behind the rear axle would probably put you near 1,000-lbs. The weight distribution system I recommend is part # EQ37120ET. This system is designed for tongue weight between 800 and 1,200-lbs. The system has sway control built in that keeps the trailer on the rood when traveling in high winds or passing large trucks on the highway.
I also recommend the thin-walled socket # EQ70-00-4800 that helps when installing the hitch ball.
I have attached a helpful article on weight distribution you can check out.
