Recommended 2-Bike Carrier That Allows Tailgate On 2016 Toyota Tundra To Fully Open

I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra. Will my tailgate open and clear the bikes loaded with the rack tilted down?

Because of the height of a tailgate on a pickup truck like your 2016 Tundra, it would not be able to open all the way with the Thule T2 Pro XTR # TH83JV bike carrier loaded and tilted. The tailgate is hinged at the bottom and the bike rack would be closest to the truck near the bottom when tilted.

If you need to lower the tailgate completely I recommend a bike carrier like the RockyMounts BackStage # RKY10002. This bike carrier has both a tilting and a swing-away design. The swing-away allows the carrier to swing out and away from the back of your vehicle so you have complete rear cargo access. If you place the carrier on a different vehicle it also has the tilting feature that will allow access to the cargo area.
