For your 1996 Cherokee, you will need Roadmaster Base Plate Kit # 1418-1. If your tow bar does not already have a quick disconnect base assembly, part # 910021-00 would work great for you.
You will need to wire your Cherokee for towing. If you were not planning on towing the vehicle frequently, a magnetic mounted light kit like part # RM-2120 would work well for you. If a more permanent solution is desired, a diode kit like part # 38955 would work best.
Also recommended are safety cables like part # RM643. Some states mandate that a supplemental braking system like part # RM9400 be used.
I would also recommend you check with the manufacturer for instructions on the proper procedure for flat towing your vehicle because some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, or free-wheeling hubs before they can be flat towed without damaging the vehicle.
