Can a Bike Rack be Used on a Travel Trailer

Question:

I have the Swagman XTC2. I have used it for quite a while and really like the rack. I just noticed the decal that says not to use on a travel trailer. What is the reason for that? I have put several miles on the rack carrying two bikes on the rear of our trailer and everything seems fine. Just wondering what if anything was incorrect about that. Thanx for your help and input.

Most bike racks cannot be used on the rear of travel trailer due to the excessive stress the rack can endure during travel. The primary reason for this is that a rack installed on a towed trailer will experience much more shaking and jarring than it would if installed on a vehicle. This particular rack is not designed to safely withstand that kind of punishment. It is for this reason that many bike racks, like the Swagman XTC # S64670, are not recommended be used on the rear of trailers.

We do carry some racks that are certified to be used on trailers or RVs. The Yakima LongHaul # Y02476, 4-bike rack is one for the racks that we carry that can be used on the rear of a trailer or RV. The Thule Range is a has a weight capacity of 37.5lbs per bike.
