Compatibility of a the SportRack Ridge Swing with a 1-1/4 Inch Hitch
Question:
My vehicle has a 1 1/4inch class II receiver hitch and I am concerned about exceeding the weight limit for the hitch if I use an 2inch adapter with the Ridge Swing.

This issue with using a hitch adapter like the Brophy Hitch Adapter 1-1/4 to 2 Inch, # HTAD, will be the reduced tongue weight. Using an adapter will decrease your tongue weight rating on your hitch by 50 percent. This would make carrying your bikes and rack difficult.
The best option, if available, would be to install a new hitch with the 2 inch receiver opening. If you can provide your vehicle information, we would be able to see if there is a hitch available that can work with the SportRack Ridge Swing 4 Bike Rack, # SR2415.
