How to Help WeatherTech Floor Mats Take On Their Intended Shape

Question:

Hello, I ran across your video review on YouTube, about WeatherTech floor mats for a 2002 and 2006 Chevy Silverado. I purchased a set of floor mats for my 2004 Chevy Silverado extended cab Auto Transmission, from WeatherTech Direct and the front mats do not fit. The front mats seem to be about 1inch short in the width. The drivers side interferes with the parking brake too. I am contacting you because you seem to have a lot of experience with these mats and I am wondering if you have run into this problem. I have contacted Weathertech and they are absolutely no help. They deny that the mats are defective and claim they should fit. I have sent them an email with pictures and videos and they have not responded. The model number that is embossed on the back of the mat is 01869. Can you offer any insight on these mats? If you can help me get the right model mats, I will ask WeatherTech to send me a pick up tag and I will purchase them from you guys... Thanks for your help.

Sorry to hear about your floor mat fit issue. One thing I can offer is that the WeatherTech mats will often be distorted upon arrival from being folded up to fit into a shipping carton. The fix for what can absolutely appear to be a incorrect item is to turn the mats inside out (if their shape allows this) and to set them in a warm place, maybe on the floor near a sunny window in your home, to allow them "relax" fully for a few hours and take on their intended pre-shipment shape. One of my etrailer co-workers bought WeatherTech mats for his Acadia and what appeared to be a bad fit turned out to be simple solved by the above process.

Since these items are indeed laser-measured and custom-fit for specific vehicles they SHOULD fit perfectly, but we have seen the shipping deformation issue occur now and again. If your mat fit was too long I would not consider this as a possibility but since it is too short it may be that they just need a little heat/time to revert to their correct shape after their trip on the UPS van.

In any event I hope you'll come back to us here at etrailer.com next time you need something.
