Can Roadmaster Second RV Kit RM-98850 Tap into Blue Wire on 7-Way Trailer Connector on RV

Question:

I bought a 2008 Bounder and want to install part #98850 in it using the same towed vehicle with its installed Invisibrake 2012 Honda CRV - 4 pin plug. A You Tube video suggests splicing into the blue wire going into the 7 pin plug rather than using the direct plug into the toweds seperate Invisibrake plug. Is this correct?

The installation instructions for Roadmaster second RV kit # RM-98850 are pretty straight forward. You would not tap into the blue wire because on a 7-Way blue is usually for electric brakes. If tapped into the blue wire the light would not work unless the RV had a brake controller and even then it would light up any time you step on the RV brakes regardless of whether the Toad is connected or not. Otherwise it wouldn't do anything unless you wired the LED light to the other end of the blue wire under the dash (or wherever it terminates in the Bounder).

I imagine the video is assuming the blue wire just goes up under the dash and, if you don't have a brake controller, this could actually work. But ideally you would follow the instructions and use the included wire to run manually. Its certainly up to you but you would have to make sure that the blue wire is not being used by a brake controller to control trailer brakes and that it actually goes all the way up to the front of the RV.
