Locating Brake Controller Port on Toyota and Lexus Vehicles
Question:
I removed the kick panel and located one port that doesnt appear to be connected to anything but is attached with a bracket to a pillar. Would it be safe to assume this is the connector for the brake controller? And, if I connected it and it wasnt, would it damage the system? thanks.

Toyota and Lexus typically places the connector for the brake controller in the location you describe. The connector is square and white in color. The easiest way to determine if you have the correct connector is to compare the connector you have located to the connector on the wiring adapter, part # 3040-P.
You can also use a circuit tester, like part # PTW2993 to test the pins on the connector you have located. One pin should show a constant 12-volts, and another should only show voltage when the brake pedal is pressed. This should give you a good indication that you have the right connector.
We have an install video showing the location of the connector on a Sequoia, click on the provided link.
