Recommendation for a Hitch Bike Rack With Anti-Sway Cradles On A 2010 Subaru Forester

Question:

I like the price of this bike rack but am worried about the features. How likely is it for the bikes to bang into the car? I already have two young boys that do enough damage, I dont want a rack that wont protect my car. Also, will my vehicles tail lights be visible with 4 various sized bikes hooked on? I have a 2010Suburu Forester.

I would recommend the Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Hitch Mounted Tilting Rack, part # Y02458. The anti-sway cradles will keep the bikes from doing any damage to your 2010 Subaru Forester. This hitch bike rack will fit a 2 inch or 1-1/4 inch hitch and has a weight capacity of 150 lbs for four bikes.

The Yakima LongHaul Bike Hitch Mounted Rack # Y02476, you have referenced also the anti-sway cradles that keep the bikes from rocking back and forth. It would work for you as well. Check out the videos to help make your choice.

If you are planning on using the bike carrier for children's or women's bikes, I would recommend a frame adapter like the Yakima Tube Top Bike Adapter, part # Y02531. This frame adapter spans the distance between the seat post and the handle bar post and provides a level attachment point so that the bike will not be carried at an angle on the rack. See link for the instructions and a video review on the adapter.

Even with the four bikes on your bike rack the tail lights should be visible on your 2010 Subaru Forester.
