The first thing you will need to do before purchasing any equipment is to extensively research towing, in particular 5th wheel towing. A good place to start is our 5th wheel help article which I have attached for your review.

There are three different types of hitches to consider when towing a 5th wheel trailer. The first one is a fixed hitch. A fixed hitch features a center mounted hitch that does not move or account for clearance issues with the cab. These are generally used on trucks with an 8' foot bed. The other two (Sliding, Auto-Sliding) hitches are only needed when you have a bed shorter than 8'. The Ram 3500 dually has a long bed from factory therefore, a fixed hitch will be perfect for your 5th wheel needs.

In regards to the installation kit, you have three possible options to consider. The first entails an under the bed rail system. This system will allow for optimal use and space of your tow vehicle's bed while hauling a trailer. The second option will be an over the bed rail system. This will limit the available bed space while towing but will provide you with a greater selection of hitches for your 5th wheel. And third, Ram offered an OEM 5th wheel prep package option for the 2015 Ram 3500, If the truck you are looking at has this OEM package, you will want to look for a hitch that fits this.

The best option for a vehicle with factory 5th wheel hitch rails is the Curt Q20 part # C16530-16021. This is the only option that will not require the purchase of additional mounting rails as they will install with your pre-existing factory 5th wheel pucks. If your vehicle is not equipped with the factory 5th wheel package then I recommend the Reese 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # RP30928 and # RP56010-53. This package features outboard rails for easy installation.
