Will Curt Cargo Carrier 18152 Clear Spare Tire on Jayco RV/Trailer and Hold 300 Pounds
Question:
I have a Jayco that came with the heavy duty hitch connected on metal between the frame. I want to haul 300 pounds on the 18152 cargo carrier. Would I be able to haul this much? Will the 18152 clear the spare tire that is mounted on the bumper with the basic bracker? It would not, what would I need to clear the tire. Thanks

First, check your trailer hitch for a sticker that lists the capacity and go by that rating. If there isn't a sticker check the literature for the trailer to see if the capacity is listed. The hitch tongue weight capacity will need to be rated for at least the combined weight of the carrier and the cargo on it.
To determine if the Curt cargo carrier # C18152 will clear the spare tire measure from the center of your hitch pin hole out to however far is needed to clear the spare. If that distance is less than 11-1/4 inches the carrier will clear the spare.
At 300 pounds that is a lot of weight at the back of an RV or trailer. I strongly recommend using additional straps such as # EM34416 attached to the carrier and back of the RV to limit the movement of the carrier, especially when loaded.
