2003 Ford Explorer Compatibility With Towing 490 lb Motorcycle
Question:
I have a 2003 Ford Explorer with a max tongue weight of 500 lbs. The GTW is 5000lbs. My motorcycle has a weight of 490lbs with a wheelbase of 65 inches. I will be over the max tongue weight with the part # e98873 by 50 lbs or so. Would this be an issue? What could I do to increase my max tongue weight?

Your 2003 Ford has a max tongue weight of 500 lbs as you stated. I double checked and this is the manufacturer max capacity so there is not a hitch (even if it is rated higher) that can be used to increase that capacity. You will not be able to put your motorcycle on a carrier like the etrailer Motorcycle Carrier w/ Ramp for 2" Hitch - 76" Long - Steel - 500 lbs # e98873. However, I do have a solution for you.
Your solution is to use a trailer like the Detail K2 Mighty Multi A-Frame Utility Trailer - 7-1/2' Long - 1,640 lbs # K2MMT5X7 which will allow you to use your explorer to tow your motorcycle because the tongue weight will fall well within your limits. Please keep in mind that this trailer is not rated to go over 50 miles per hour.
