Recommendations to Improve Sag on 2013 Chevrolet Silverado with Weight Distribution System Installed
Question:
Hi, I have a 2013 Silverado which I use to tow my 35 foot travel trailer. I have a weigh distribution system installed, however, I still have some sag between the trailer and my Silverado. Can you recommend a product that will supplement the suspension of my truck so it does not sag?

Ideally, a properly rated weight distribution system will eliminate the sag you are experiencing with your 2013 Chevrolet Silverado when connected to your trailer. Check to make sure that the total tongue weight of your setup, which includes both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer along with any added weight coming from behind the rear axle of your tow vehicle, is not exceeding the capacity of the weight distribution system.
If the system is rated adequately for your trailer, then I recommend next checking to make sure the system was set up and adjusted properly. You may just need to adjust the weight distribution system you have installed. Since the rear of your Silverado is sagging, the hitch is most likely under adjusted, which occurs when there is not enough weight being transferred to the front axles of the tow vehicle. To correct under adjustment you will want to add more force to the hitch by adding spacer washers or raising the L-brackets on a system like the Equal-i-zer # EQ37100ET.
Using a suspension enhancement system like # AL88338 along with a weight distribution system is not recommended, as many times the two systems can work against each other.
