Do 5th Wheels Hitches Have a Lifetime Range
Question:
Hitch life? I have a Husky 16K hitch that I purchased in 2004. It has been used on 4 different 5th wheels - all within the capacity of the hitch. I am purchasing a new trailer and am wondering if I should purchase a new hitch too. Would probably purchase a Reese RP30867

Most 5th wheel hitches actually have a lifetime warranty. As long as you take good care of it, don't go over the weight capacity, keep it clean and lubricated, and replace parts as they need replacing, a 5th wheel hitch could last you a very long time. Unless you are experiencing some problems, I would say that you are good to continue using your Husky 16K hitch.
With that being said, the Reese Select Plus 20K, part # RP30081, that you referenced in your question is an excellent choice if you were to replace your Husky 16K. It is one of the best designs currently out on the market. It uses a single jaw system to make sure that there is 360 degrees of contact. This helps to minimize jarring and chucking when slowing down and speeding up. It also has a 4-Way pivoting head which helps to make hooking up your trailer easier on uneven ground. This hitch will fit right into the base rails that you currently are using as long as they are industry standard.
The Reese Select Plus is one of my favorite hitches to recommend because of all the great features that it has to offer.
