Recommended Hubs/Drums Along With Compatible Wheel And Tire Assemblies

Question:

I have Dexter axles under my utility trailer with mobile home wheels on them and I want to replace the hubs for ones that a regular wheel will work on. Is this possible? My 16ft utility trailer have Dexter axles with mobile home wheels on them. Is there a replacement hub assembly that will interchange with the mobile home hub assembly? The only info I can find on the axles is Dexter 12 x 2 DXQ, PRI - FF - SEQ- FF DEXTER 36 - 89

It sounds like you have 7,000 lb Dexter axles by the part numbers you gave. All of the assemblies for that size Dexter axle have 8 on 6-1/2 inch bolt pattern or a 5 spoke utility which is what it sounds like you have. My recommendation is to get the Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Axles - 8 on 6-1/2 - E-Z Lube # 8-219-4UC3-EZ hubs and then you can use special trailer wheels with the more standard options on your utility trailer.

For your tires and wheels, I recommend the Kenda Karrier ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire w/ 16" White Wheel - 8 on 6-1/2 - Load Range E # AM34903. These wheels and tires will have a load capacity of 3,500 lbs at 90 psi which is the psi you should run on these tires when they are filled cold. They have a ply rating of 10 and are great for highway use.
